Mercy Onyango is a Policy Analyst and Economist with expertise in public finance, macroeconomic analysis, and agricultural policy. She currently works at the National Treasury of South Africa in the Budget Department, where she contributes to economic policy formulation and budget planning. Mercy has previously held research roles at institutions such as KIPPRA, PICO Eastern Africa, and ICRISAT, where she supported policy-relevant research on foreign direct investment, agricultural biotech, food systems, and sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. She holds an MSc in Applied Agricultural Economics from the University of Nairobi and brings over seven years of experience in evidence-based policy analysis, program evaluation, and development research.
