Cathy Bashala is an Economist. In February 2009, while completing her master’s in economics at Stellenbosch University, she was one of the top 10 postgraduate finalists in the Nedbank & Old Mutual Budget Speech Competition. She delivered her speech live in the South African Parliament on February 11, 2009. She is currently an Economic Affairs Officer at SRO-NA of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa
