Bio Data:

Aweng Garang is a researcher at the Center for Global Finance under the AXA Chair, with interests in macro-finance, banking, financial stability, and development finance. His work focuses on making financial systems more inclusive and supportive of sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on financial inclusion and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). He co-authored “From Millions to Billions: Financing the Development of African Cities” for the AfDB. Aweng has also held an academic role at the University of Juba in South Sudan. His research explores how macroeconomic policies interact with financial systems, the role of macroprudential policies in promoting stability, and how banking sector development supports growth and poverty reduction. He uses various quantitative methods, including time series, panel data, and structural modeling, and is expanding into experimental designs.
